About the Post:

Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honest, teamwork, excellent service and taking pride in what we do. As part of our team, you can be sure we’ll do all we can to support you in being truly excellent.

We have a team of around 50 Support Workers who support people in the Borough to regain their skills and confidence to live independently at home and reconnect with their community, after either a period in hospital, a change in circumstances or decline in personal resilience.

We are looking to recruit Support Workers to join our committed team on either:
• A permanent basis, working regular, rostered hours
• Relief cover

Relief cover may be required at short notice and although a set number of hours cannot be guaranteed, we are seeing increased demand and have an ever-growing number of services users, which means there is plenty of opportunity for regular work.

With that in mind, whether a permanent staff member or working as a relief support worker, you will have a varied and rewarding experience, and a chance to work with some fantastic people. You should be someone who enjoys working to ensure the welfare needs of our service users are met at all times.

Some of your day to day tasks will include:

• providing support to people in their homes
• supporting service users with day to day tasks
• working to a support plan, developed by a Reablement Manager
• writing up your visits
• communicating with members of your team
• attend visits both on your own and as part of a team

If the above description is of interest to you, please take the time to look at the attached ‘Job Profile’ for more information.

Full training is provided and a commitment to work towards a level 2 qualification is required.

Please note: In the references section of your application form, ensure that you give the names and contact details (including email addresses) of two people who are prepared to give you a reference. Where possible this should be a current or previous employer, however character/personal references are an acceptable alternative.
