We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced social worker to join our Assessment and Joint investigation service to cover an existing post which has become temporarily vacant due to maternity leave.

This service provides the front line response to professionals and the public seeking both consultation and intervention in response to the LA responsibilities under Section 17 and Section 47 CA 1989.

Ideally you will have up to date experience of working in a statutory child care setting and will have effective skills in engaging with children and families. You will be able to undertake robust, timely and evidence based assessments of need and risk and work collaboratively with a range of professionals who can contribute to improving outcomes for children.

You will form part of an established social work team who are supported by 3 team managers providing regular formal and informal supervision to ensure that you are meeting your full potential.

You will need to be flexible, committed and have good organisation skills and have a knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidelines. The Department has high aspirations and our vision is to ‘Work together for a Brighter future – a Better Barnsley’.
