Your role in our journey
As a Relief Library Assistant, you’ll be part of the public face of libraries, dealing with all our customer enquiries in a helpful and professional manner. You will be at the forefront of our digital change, helping people to get online, assisting with queries and signposting customers to our online services. Your day will be varied and you’ll interact professionally with people of all ages from diverse backgrounds. You could be working at any of the location in our borough helping customers with their books or signposting to one of our services. Every day is different here at Barnsley Libraries!
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need a strong customer focused, can do attitude, and excellent communication skills. You will have the ability to work under pressure, maintain a calm professional manner and to deal with sensitive situations diplomatically. You need to be adaptable, willing to travel to different locations, and committed to working in a challenging frontline service. You need to be proficient in ICT systems, digitally capable and able to demonstrate the drive and enthusiasm to ensure continuous improvement of our services in this exciting time.
