About the Post:

 

The Role
Barnsley Council’s IT service plays a crucial role in supporting the organisation’s Future Council Strategy and Corporate Plan along with its Digital First Strategy. Opportunities are available for an ICT Officer in the System Management team.

We currently have a vacancy available to support and develop some of our critical information systems within System Management. The post-holder will play a vital role in ensuring that critical IT systems remain operational, supported and compliant. The successful candidate will be required to plan, analyse, and provide technical support for some of the council’s critical IT systems responding to service incidents on a day to day basis.

We and are looking for a candidate with good knowledge and experience of working in a fast paced IT environment, excellent organisational skills and an ability to problem solve complex situations to a successful conclusion. Knowledge of SQL, PowerShell and managing software applications would be an advantage.

Your role in our journey
As an ICT Officer, you’ll provide vital detailed technical support across a range of Information and Communication Technology services. Crucially, at this time of change and beyond, you’ll play a role in developing, testing and deploying new ICT systems, solutions and infrastructure as well as supporting existing key line of business applciations. We will look to you to assist in making sure our systems comply with best practice, policies and procedures, and are fully monitored and controlled. From troubleshooting and fault finding, to information gathering, data analysis and reporting, a wide range of people will rely on your expertise and dedication.

What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need a relevant Level 2 qualification. You’ll certainly have need to have experience of delivering technical ICT services.. Familiar with a range of different systems, development applications or infrastructure platforms, you have the collaborative spirit and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with experts and non-experts alike, at all levels.
