A position has arisen for the post of Team Manager in Children’s Social Care & Safeguarding Service. The post holder will provide leadership and line management to a team of social workers and family support workers and will report to the Service Manager for Children’s Social Care & Safeguarding. We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Team Manager to join our Children and Young People service, motivated to lead their team to success, while contributing to service wide performance.

This service manages assessment, care planning, and support packages for children within the Child in Need/Child Protection, Court and Children in Care processes and your ability to promote best practice in this context is critical.

You will have extensive and recent experience of providing supervision and managerial oversight to social workers in a statutory child care setting. You will be able to make timely and well evidenced decisions in relation to safeguarding and lead a team of social workers/family support workers carrying out tasks which promote the best outcomes across life domains for children and young people.

You will work closely with other managers in the service to contribute to the development and implementation of systems and processes which underpin safe and effective Social Work practice, including the provision of a duty service and the allocation of work.

You will already have skills/knowledge and experience as an experienced Practitioner or Manager which will be invaluable not just to those you supervise but to other practitioners/managers who will consult with you regarding practice dilemmas or developments relating to services for children.

You must have well established skills in working within a multi-agency perspective and the resilience required to successfully lead a social work team in this area. In-depth knowledge and understanding of
relevant legislation, statutory guidance and best practice associated with children and their families is essential.

You will also be numerate; skilled in the use of IT, have advanced communication skills and be solution focused.

The People’s Directorate provides staff with good levels of support, supervision and training opportunities, aimed at supporting career development, while promoting best outcomes for children and young people.
