Tykes Teaching School Alliance is proud to work partnership with Sheffield Hallam University to deliver the Schools Direct route into teaching. On successful completion of the 1 year course you would be awarded QTS, PGCE, comprising 60 credits at Master Level 6.

Entry requirement for the course are a 2:2 degree, along with maths, English and science at grade C or equivalent.

Sheffield Hallam’s ‘The Sheffield Institute of Education’ (SIoE) received the first ever 'Outstanding' rating from Ofsted for early years' teacher training - alongside an 'Outstanding' rating for their primary teacher training. They are a national centre of education, recognised for their excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.

Tykes Teaching School Alliance is based in Barnsley. We pride ourselves on being the primary specialists with two outstanding lead primary schools. Our aim is to train the next generation of outstanding teachers to ensure the children of Barnsley receive world class education.

Tykes TSA students are placed in two highly performing Barnsley primary schools, and are mentored by good and outstanding teachers. Students experience all aspects of school life during their placements, which is invaluable when applying for future teaching positions.
