About the Post:

This is a great opportunity to join the Employability service, within Employment and Skills, to support in the delivery of our exciting new ESF funded employability programmes.

We wish to recruit four highly motivated and enthusiastic Information Advice and Guidance practitioners who are passionate about supporting employees within their workplace to fulfil their potential within their current or futures roles. The posts are 37 hours per week and are offered on a fixed term basis until 31/12/2023. All roles are funded through the European Social Fund.

Our ESF funded ADVANCE programme is focused on working with large public sector employers as well as the private and third sector. Our support will enable their employees  to develop, progress and ultimately “thrive in their chosen career”, by brokering appropriate workforce developmental  opportunities and progression routes.

In addition to our Advance programme we are also launching our new ESF funded Digital Boost programme.  This programme focuses on supporting employed individuals to increase their digital skills and competencies in order to support people to progress and sustain their careers and increase their productivity in work.

You will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and engaging with good communication skills and a positive outlook. Working across a range of employment sectors, you will need to have a good knowledge of a range of local and regional employers and have an understanding of the local labour market issues.

The ability to keep accurate reports of meetings is a key requirement for the role, but you should also be organised, responsive and flexible to meet, and support, the needs of our customers.   Applicants will need to be able to work flexibly as occasional evening and weekend work may be required.  As Covid-19 restrictions are removed, there is an expectation that some of the working week will be based within one of our offices located across the Borough.

In order to attract candidates with suitable experience to support this project, this role is a career progression opportunity offered at two levels. For the level 1 position you will require a minimum Level 2 in English and be qualified to at least Level 3. The level 2 opportunity requires Level 2 in English and a minimum Level 4 IAG qualification or equivalent in a  related field. Where a level 4 IAG qualification is not held there may be the possibility of undertaking this qualification  as a development opportunity.

Please note that offers of employment are conditional on the production of the required certificates so it is important that you check the job profile to ensure you have these before you submit your application. For this role an Enhanced DBC check will also be undertaken.
