About the Post:

 

Barnsley Adult Social Care have an exciting opportunity/vacancy for a team manager position – you will need to be experienced in being able to make complex decisions.  You will also need to evidence that you have worked at an advance level in an advanced practitioner role or as a team manager.

 

You will be working with the Central and Penistone team which covers central Barnsley and surrounding rural areas.

The role involves supporting and guiding staff who work with and support adults over the age of 18 years.  The locality team predominantly works with those with a physical disability, because they are over the age of 65 or have complex life’s requiring intervention – other assessments are carried out due to other vulnerabilities such as exploitation and self-neglect. As team manager you will be expected to make complex decisions, support a team of up to 15 staff and carry out reflective supervision.  Your role will be to work alongside the other locality managers.

 

You will need knowledge of the legal frameworks that guide and influence the work of Adult Social Care.  The role will include also demonstrating knowledge of the Discharge to Assess procedures, the Care Act 2014 - working with Mental Capacity Act 2005.  Additional work may lead to chairing safeguarding and best interest meetings and supporting applications to the Court of Protection.  The role also includes working with adult safeguarding procedures and working with the Making Safeguarding Personal agenda, where as manager you will be responsible for ensuring key decisions are made promptly.    Part of the role is reporting on the operational side of the service and ensuring that information regarding performance is shared with the service managers and the head of service.

A multi-disciplinary approach is a key part of the role, including thinking about integrated care systems.  You will need knowledge of all the work being done across the Better Lives programme including reablement, Front Door hub/initial contact, and D2a.  You will also need to support staff through change management and any relevant processes including attendance and recruitment/retention.   Leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of working with adults and adult social care staff is essential.
