About the Post:

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an Social Worker to join us to work with young people subject to or at risk of Contextual Safeguarding, including children and young people subject to Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Criminal Exploitation and children missing from home.

In Barnsley we take Contextual Safeguarding very seriously and have a dedicated resource to meet need and lead on this important area.  You will be experienced in this area of work or be knowledgeable and have a thirst for learning very quickly and have a passion for improving the outcomes for children and young people impacted upon by Contextual Safeguarding /CE/CSE.  In return you will have a protected caseload and have the opportunity to work intensively with young people, work closely in partnership with other professionals such as the police, health, education and with the wider partnership in terms of colleagues in communities and licencing etc.   You will also offer advice, guidance and support to other Social Workers in their work with children and young people. 

A Barnsley Child Exploitation Strategy is in place and our multi-agency’s (BSCP) Child Exploitation Subgroup (formerly Child Sexual Exploitation) is well embedded with core membership from all appropriate key stakeholders and which focuses on all forms of child criminal exploitation.  Our workplan and objectives have been fully refreshed and a robust audit regime that is monitored and measured through the BSCP is in place.    The workplan and strategy is designed to address child exploitation through contextual safeguarding in a coordinated robust manner and most importantly ensure that the voice of children and young people is at the centre of all we do.  You will be supported in your role by a partnership committed to tackling Contextualised Safeguarding.
