The successful candidate will be required to be available outside of services normal working hours as part of a standby rota to respond to out of hours service needs. A standardised standby payment will be made in respect of these duties.
The successful candidate will be required to speak English to an appropriate standard.

About the Post:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the People Directorate in Barnsley Council as a Management Support Officer, providing a comprehensive and efficient Business Support service predominantly to the Service Director for Child Social Care and Safeguarding.
Services for children in Barnsley have recently been assessed as good by OFSTED and by working together as part of a committed and dedicated team, you will play a key role in continuing to make the service shine and progress.
As a Management Support Officer you will support Service Directors within the People Directorate to enable them to fulfil their role effectively in the context of a highly-pressurised working environment, and take ownership of specific issues within the service, co-ordinating and monitoring milestones through to resolution on behalf of the Service Directors.
You will hold a NVQ level 3 or equivalent level qualification in a business related subject.
The service processes a high volume of confidential and information that is emotive in content for which a level of personal resilience is required
You will be flexible in your approach in order to ensure the overall service objectives are achieved, be an excellent team player and willing to make a solid contribution to the smooth running of the service.
In return, you will be provided with training and opportunities to progress your continuous personal development in line with the requirements of the role, together with support from the Service Director and colleagues in an enthusiastic and dedicated team.
On occasions, you will be required to be part of the Out of Hours “ on Call “Rota supporting the relevant Service Director and co-ordinate responses on behalf of the Service with regard to emergency resilience events.
