This role is initially part-time, with a view to being made full-time, subject to success of the project.

Good Food Barnsley is a broad coalition between the private, public and 3rd sectors. It is a joined up movement and partnership of fantastic minds and resources that work towards a shared vision of building a better Barnsley where everyone has the right to the food they need to thrive.

• Promote healthy and sustainable food to the public
• Tackle food insecurity and diet related ill health
• Build community food knowledge, skills and resources
• Promote a diverse and vibrant food economy
• Transform catering and food procurement
• Reduce waste and the ecological footprint of the food system

Storehouse & Field Food model aims to:
• Provide regular and affordable access to a sustainable supply of high quality food to those experiencing moderate food insecurity
• Signpost relevant and appropriate support services and agencies to members
• Give members access to learning and development programmes aimed at increasing individual and community resilience and confidence

Reporting to the Hub Manager, the Storehouse & Field Community Facilitator is responsible for understanding and Good Food Barnsley food pathway and appropriately signposting Storehouse & Field club members towards appropriate support and services, ensuring that all members receive a high quality service, whether they engage with us at the Hub or via a Storehouse & Field Food Club.

The Community Facilitator will:
• Work on the frontline, engaging with Storehouse & Field members
• Have hands on involvement with food activities
• Have a thorough understanding of the borough of Barnsley and sound knowledge of support services available to Barnsley citizens
• Support Storehouse & Field members in accessing the appropriate provision for them
• Establish and develop a Storehouse & Field Club network
• Train volunteers (Community Food Champions) in working with SH&F members, particularly with regards to signposting
• Being present and available to talk to SH&F members on pantry days, and supporting where appropriate at food club delivery points

An ideal candidate will:
• Have a background in social work, or similar, with experience working with vulnerable individuals and/or families
• Be personable, friendly and approachable
• IT literate, particularly with the MS package
• Presentation skills
• Full UK driving license and access to own vehicle
• Experience of customer/client- facing roles would be beneficial
• Have contacts with existing support services within Barnsley (desired)
