We recognises that there needs to be a much greater focus on outcomes, on supporting people to lead rich and fulfilling lives, rather than merely providing services. We also want to enable people to exercise choice and control and to use our expertise and resources to promote well-being, and quality services that have a sustainable future.
You will have experience of developing and sustaining quality and governance arrangements in care or similar services, ensuring that the required and expected standards are met, maintained and improved.
A qualification at degree level is essential as is the willingness to undertake the Councils leadership programme, a Professional Social work, Health or education Qualification is highly desirable.
Our ambition means it’s vital that you have commitment and a ‘can do’ attitude to thrive within our large but welcoming organisation. We want to harness your drive and ability to help us to deliver change for the better.
We’re thrilled to have achieved Investors in People (IIP) Gold status for how we lead, support and develop people. Now we’d like you to be part of our success and help us take change further. Join us on our journey to a brighter future. By working together, with each other and with our communities, we can take pride in improving lives. Let’s make a better Barnsley for everyone.

Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do. As part of our team, you can be sure we’ll do all we can to support you in being truly excellent. You see, we prioritise learning and enabling you to achieve your potential. So we’ve created a development process that lets you grow in the way that suits you - whether that’s training to be a leader, or learning flexibly online.
