About the Post:
An opportunity has arisen to join the highly regarded , forward thinking Barnsley Virtual School team supporting the improving education outcomes of children and young people in the care, of BMBC and care leavers.
The successful candidate will support the work of the virtual school, facilitating the council’s termly personal education planning processes for children in its care , ensuring adherence to timescales and statutory compliance.
The post holder will be responsible for:
• Ensuring termly personal plans are processed and recorded in line with the BMBC policy
• Monitor and supporting schools access to termly personal education planning systems to ensure plans are completed within agreed timescales
• Providing advice and guidance to social care colleagues in relation to termly personal education planning systems.
• Monitoring school/college attendance and provide performance management information relevant to the aims of the virtual school
• Facilitating effective communication through maintenance of up to date designated teacher contacts
• Providing advice and guidance relevant to the Code of practice and relevant legislation
• Preparing casework for panels and lac reviews as required
• Implement maintain and review paperwork and adherence to statutory EHCP procedures for looked after children with SEND
The successful candidate will have qualifications at NVQ level 3 or equivalent and experience of working with information management systems and data bases . They will have a good working knowledge of the relevant codes of practice and legislation and experience of communicating and working effectively with a range of stakeholders. The post is suitable for a job share.
