THIS POST REQUIRES AN ENHANCED DBS CHECK 

The Governors are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with SEND experience to join our motivated and highly supportive team, for one year initially.  Specific experience of working with SEMH difficulties would be highly advantageous.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and as part of a specialist team including teachers, support staff and a range of other professionals, supporting the learning and welfare of children who may have medical needs and display challenging behaviours.  Resilience and a desire to support vulnerable pupils are essential for this post.  The post may also involve general classroom support.

The role will initially involve supporting a child in and out of the classroom on a one to one basis with some small group support at times. The role will also involve Lunchtime support.

The post holder will demonstrate essential professional characteristics, and in particular will:

  • Have experience of using Team Teach or other positive handling techniques.
  • Have experience of using Restorative Practice.
  • Be able to demonstrate empathy with an appreciation of pupils’ needs.
  • Work towards improving the quality of pupils’ learning.
  • Engage and motivate pupils.
  • Have proven experience of supporting children with behavioural and medical needs.
  • Be committed to making a real difference to the lives of young people with special educational needs and their families/carers.

 

 

Applicants should have a good general education with GCSE in Maths and English (or equivalent).

Experience of working in this role is essential.
