An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced manager to join the senior management team of Barnsley’s Adults Social Care and Health Service.

As Head of Service for Older People and Physical Disabilities you will oversee budgets, practice and performance in a number of key areas, including responsibility for the management 3 locality teams hospital social work team and the care homes review team. This is a varied and challenging role which carries responsibility for ensuring that the council meets its statutory responsibilities across a wide area of adult social care, including safeguarding and hospital discharges.

Professional qualification in social work or relevant health discipline, in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and the broader social care and health agenda, well-developed leadership skills and the ability to work in close partnership with a wide range of other organisations, as well as across the Council, are all essential requirements for this post.

The post combines operational and strategic responsibilities and offers excellent opportunities for development and career progression.
