Moorland Plastics Barnsley is a manufacturing factory that specialises in the design, manufacture and assembly of plastic components & PVCu windows and doors, whilst being part of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and delivering the Work Choice Programme by employing people with varying degrees of disabilities. You will have significant experience of tool setting and machine conditioning together with hands on experience of preventative maintenance and breakdown repair in a busy manufacturing environment. You will also have a working knowledge of electronic/electrical and hydraulic systems. You will possess excellent diagnosis and machine shop skills. You will be able to demonstrate a methodical approach to mould mounting and setting in a busy production environment and work under pressure. You will also be able to work in within a team environment and will possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written. The successful applicant will be responsible for the changing, setting and optimising of all moulds and tooling to achieve quality and output requirements together with the regular monitoring of machine processes with a view to increasing efficiencies. You will be responsible for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of all production tooling with a view to reducing system and machine failure of all machinery and systems within the factory. The post holder will be responsible for the effectiveness and maintenance of all safety guards and devices. You will be responsible to the Production Manager for the production and development of jigs and fixtures as and when required and will be actively involved in the design and implementation of projects and future developments together with advising management on all technical aspects.   The post holder will be responsible for keeping up to date records of all production tooling and relevant information plus maintenance and repair costs for equipment used in the factory. You will understand and work within the context of the Service Quality Assurance Systems and meet OFSTED/ALI/IIP and any other relevant Service/Quality Assurance Standards requirements and contribute to the continual improvement of the system, along with the Management Team to ensure high quality service delivery. The post holder will be aware/updated of the Health and Safety at Work Act at all times and be responsible for the evaluation/review/implementation of Health and Safety policy/procedures/systems and other legislation as required. You will carry out your responsibility with due regard at all times to Equal Opportunities. You will possess a willingness to undertake further personal development as deemed by the service/organisation.
