Come and be part of a new team, and pursue an exciting career path in Cyber Security with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. If successful, you will join a fast pace and dynamic environment dealing with the latest technologies in a pursuit to detect the latest cybercrime.

The Degree Apprenticeship programme is over a four year period, with day or block release attendance during term-time at a local University, and access to on-line learning resources. You will undertake a specific IT specialism in Cyber security.

Your role will involve:

 Provide advice and guidance on all security matters
 Implementing exciting new innovative security projects across the Council
 Undertaking security maintenance and enhancing the Council’s governance arrangements
 Participate in information security risk assessments
 Review and develop new security policies and procedures in order to protect the Council
 Continued professional development ensuring up to date knowledge and skills in emerging security trends
 Working to National and International standards, and with government bodies such as GCHQ
 Play an active role both locally and regionally

At the end of the four year programme, you will qualify as a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Digital and Technology Solutions Professional specialising in cyber-security.

The Degree Apprenticeship programme will include a learning plan with key learning and development milestones for you to achieve. You will be allocated a workplace Mentor who will be responsible for offering advice, support and encouragement. They will also provide evaluation and challenge as well as help you to network with other Council colleagues, be their advocate and serve as a role model.

Minimum Entry Requirements: GCSE Mathematics and English language at Grade C or above, plus one of the following:
260 points with at least 160 from two GCE/VCE A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications. General studies and AS levels may count towards these points.
