We would like to invite enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) to be part of the Partnership Protection Team (PPT). The PPT support children who are subject to child protection plans, contributing and supporting multi-agency decision making. This is an exciting opportunity a practitioner who is passionate about supporting our most vulnerable and disadvantaged children’s young people and families.  

About the post 

We are looking for an experienced SCPHN Health Visitor or School Nurse with substantial understanding of the complexities of working with vulnerable families and the impact of abuse and neglect. The postholder will provide evidence based public health nursing practice that promotes and improves health and addresses inequalities of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, young people, and families within the borough. You will lead the delivery of the healthy child programme to improve health and wellbeing of children in need, providing SCPHN expertise to develop and implement structured interventions for children and families with complex needs who are subject to safeguarding plans. The postholder will attend strategy meetings, Initial case conferences, review conferences, core group and child in need meetings, delegating as necessary workload to skill mix members within teams as appropriate. 

In the role as SCPHN Specialist Practitioner, you will need, 

Significant experience of working in the community with vulnerable children and families and can demonstrate extensive experience of managing care for safeguarding and complex cases. You will have substantial experience of working collaboratively with other agencies. Be able to contribute from a health perspective and share appropriate information at multi-agency meetings possessing the ability to positively challenge decision making and articulate rationale effectively. You will confidently lead on complex child protection plans, child in need and looked after children and have the skills and knowledge to direct support and supervise other team members. You will be required to produce high quality reports and be able to confidentially challenge multi-agency decision making where necessary.
