About the Post:

Join the SENDIAS Service in providing high quality SEND information, advice and support to parent’s carers, children and young people in the local area. We are proud of the work we do with our families and in delivering this arms-length service on behalf of the local authority.   

The Position:

We have an exciting opportunity for a SENDIASS officer to join the service in Barnsley. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to connect with a wide range of others to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people. Alongside this you will play a significant role in supporting the service goals in maintaining an excellent service to its customers. You will work as part of a team supporting your peers and ensuring the reputation of the service is maintained

You will need to have extensive experience of working with parents’ carers and children and young people. You will need to demonstrate you can work with at pace and manage a case load. You will need to understand the principles of partnership working across the local area and engage and connect with a wide range of stakeholders. You will need to have the necessary skills to use the service data reporting systems and sit with parent’s carers and young people and help them work through, complete complex SEND paperwork processes. You will need to be able to demonstrate the difference between assisting someone towards self-advocacy and direct advocacy and know when to interact between both. 

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, School Exclusion guidance, the Children and Families Act 2014, Equality Act 2010 and all other SEND relevant legislation and guidance and how these impact on case work. 

What you will need

To join us you will need to have the recognised qualifications and experience laid out in the job profile. You will need to be able to demonstrate your experiences and how these would support a role within SEND Information Advice and Support.
