We are looking to appoint a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo) to help move the school forward by improving the outcomes for children at High View Primary Learning Centre.  We require an experienced teacher who has a willingness to share skills, expertise and knowledge and a desire to support teachers, children and parents alike as the school’s SENDCo.  The successful candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills to establish credible relationships with colleagues, parents/carers and outside agencies.  They must have personal commitment to whole school improvement and a willingness to comply with all school polices.  The school is offering a full-time SENDCo position- an amazing opportunity to maximise your impact on our most vulnerable pupils.  The role will include ongoing support in developing skills and practice from the current SENDCO who has secured a role leading SEND and Inclusion across the ECM Trust as well as access to administrative support from the Assistant to the SENDCo.


The successful candidate will need:

·        To be an effective Teacher and SENDCo.

·        To be a skilled communicator able to engage pupils, parents and carers and other stakeholders in establishing meetings to ensure there are high expectations for all pupils.

·        Be willing to undertake the National SENDCo qualification during the first 3 years in post and develop excellent knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice.

·        To lead work on School Focused plans and the identification of children within SEN support.

·        A good knowledge of tracking systems to monitor progress of SEND children to inform the setting of appropriately challenging and achievable individual targets.

·        To be an excellent organiser and manager of time.

·        To be flexible to respond to planned and unplanned tasks and a good problem solver.

·        The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

·        The ability to respond to the pastoral needs of pupils and the ability to establish effective partnerships with parents/carers.

·        To lead training on SEND to school staff.

·        To provide advice on curriculum delivery for whole school setting approach or specific target groups across all Key Stages.
