We're seeking a visionary Service Director to lead our commissioning, improvement, and assurance efforts in adult social care. The role:

In this role, you will lead the commissioning function in adult social care ensuring services meet the needs of our communities and deliver the outcomes we are looking  for. Working closely with colleague in South Yorkshire Integrated Care system you will co-create solutions ensuring we make the best use of the Barnsley pound whilst maximising new investment opportunities.

 

Taking a lead on improvement for the Directorate including preparedness for assurance you will work closely with social work teams, partners and experts by experience supporting us to be an outstanding team that delivers for both the workforce and the public.  

 

Your role will also involve the continuous development of effective partnerships such as the safeguarding adults board and joint commissioning.

About you

We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience in adult social care commissioning and service improvement, demonstrating strong leadership skills and a proven track record of driving change. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of quality assurance, safeguarding, and regulatory frameworks, along with proven experience in market shaping and the integration of health and social care. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as is a strategic mindset focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
