About the Post:
Barnsley Local Authority is seeking to appoint an inspiring and strategic primary school evaluation officer to join our small but highly successful central team. In addition to supporting the work of 25 Local Authority maintained schools, you will also play a key role in the system-wide work of the Barnsley Schools’ Alliance. You will support the effective delivery of our educational improvement and inclusion strategies and, reporting directly to the Head of Education and Partnerships, will be responsible for driving high standards and ambition for all pupils, especially those from vulnerable groups. There may be occasions where some work with secondary colleagues may be required to support the wider service.
Key responsibilities:

Conduct accurate school evaluation and risk assessment activities

Identify and provide high quality professional development

Provide robust support and challenge to drive improvement and sustain excellence

Offer impactful evidence-based advice and guidance for leaders, governors and other stakeholders

Fulfil statutory assessment and moderation requirements

Deliver high-quality impact reports
Essential Criteria (for shortlisting applicants)

Successful headship experience

Demonstrable impact on academic outcomes

Detailed knowledge and successful experience of curriculum, assessment and inspection frameworks from EYFS to Y6

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
