Every Child Matters Academy Trust (ECMAT) is looking to recruit a Director of Teaching and Learning, taking a lead on safeguarding and inclusion, to work as part of the Central Team to support the academies within the MAT and schools beyond. The role will have a particular focus on improving quality wave 1 teaching with a focus on vulnerable pupils, SEND, attendance and safeguarding.

 

We are seeking applications from teachers with a proven track record in raising standards within their own school and through system leadership.

 

Hours of work may need to be flexible to meet the needs of the Academies and the Trust and on some occasions evening work is required.

The purpose of the role is alongside the existing Directors of Teaching and Learning, Deputy CEO and CEO:

 

·       To support the Trust strategic overview of school improvement within ECMAT, working with the Board, CEO, Deputy CEO and other school improvement leads within and beyond the Trust.

·       To work closely with the Headteacher and other relevant staff of an academy to monitor and improve educational standards and performance.

·       To provide accountability and reporting link on the day to day operational and strategic progress and plans of the primary academies back to the CEO, Deputy CEO, Trust Board, DFE and other relevant agencies.

·       To work with Headteachers to monitor school progress and data, making suggestions where improvements can be made and efforts prioritised.

·       To direct, monitor, deliver and broker support for all ECMAT academies as required.

·       To support and challenge the overall effectiveness of ECMAT academies in raising standards and improving outcomes for all children and young people.

·       To identify and implement areas of common working across academies and to support the

Headteachers in cross academy working.

·       To create and support a culture of constant improvement.

·       To ensure the educational success of academies within the overall framework of the ECMAT strategic plan.

·       To analyse data and provide up-to-date reports on school effectiveness within the Trust to the CEO, the Standards Committee and the Board of Directors as required.

·       To support the educational due diligence of academies.

·       To attend academy school improvement meetings providing advice, challenge and support to the Trustees, Governors and Headteachers on behalf of the Trust.

·       To attend school LGB and Trust Board meetings as required to provide advice, challenge and support to the Governors and Headteachers on behalf of the Trust

·       To attend and represent the Trust, CEO and Academies at LA, Teaching School, Ofsted and DfE meetings as required.

·       To support planning, deliver model lessons and provide analytical feedback tailored to the needs of teachers within their settings.

·       To engage in research and development resulting in improved outcomes for children.

 

We are looking for an outstanding, enthusiastic and imaginative teacher who:

  • has a passion for teaching and learning and improving outcomes for children;
  • can demonstrate strong wave 1 teaching and practice and has a passion for working with children;
  • has the skills and abilities to be an effective system leader;
  • has experience of developing and delivering effective CPD;
  • is committed to attend required CPD as directed by the Trust;
  • has the confidence and ability to positively represent the Trust both locally and nationally;
  • has an excellent rapport with colleagues, children, parents and carers;
  • can reflect and improve through professional empathy, challenge and support;
  • is willing and able to travel to and between schools and required places of work;
  • is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that all children achieve as highly as possible and
  • is committed to safeguarding.
