Specialist Teacher
Lead Practitioner Scale – Lead Practitioner Scale 1-3
Permanent / Full‑time
Location: Across HCAT schools
From September, HCAT is seeking to appoint an experienced and highly skilled Specialist Teacher.
This is a highly operational, classroom‑focused role, working closely with teachers and support staff across HCAT schools to support pupils’ needs within everyday teaching and learning. The role involves modelling best practice, suggesting practical adaptations, and leading and advising on evidence‑based speech, language, communication and SEMH interventions, ensuring staff understand both the rationale for these approaches and how to implement them effectively in the classroom.
With a primary focus on Social, Communication and Interaction (SCI) and SEMH areas of need, you will play a key role in delivering upholding our trust vision for SEND, that at the heart of everything we do lies an unwavering commitment to inclusion, where every lesson, every day creates opportunities for all learners to succeed. We believe equity means ensuring everyone gets what they need to thrive, with every member of our community serving as a leader in supporting SEND. Through co-productive partnerships, listening to the voice of all stakeholders, and by maintaining high-quality provision across the intended curriculum, we empower all pupils to access their learning and make excellent progress on their unique educational journeys.
You will work alongside colleagues in lessons, lead targeted CPD within and across schools, and build staff understanding of inclusive practice so that high‑quality provision is embedded and sustained. By coaching, modelling and supporting professional learning, you will help strengthen adaptive teaching, improve graduated responses, and enhance outcomes for children and young people with SEND. If you are an exemplary practitioner with a strong commitment to inclusion, collaboration and capacity‑building, and are passionate about developing confident staff and inclusive classrooms across a trust, we would welcome your application.
