About the Post:

We are seeking a proactive and creative Engagement Officer to join our 0–19 Public Health Nursing Service. This is a key role focused on strengthening how children, young people and families shape the services they use. You will lead the development and delivery of an engagement strategy that ensures their voices directly influence service improvement, design and decision-making. This post offers a unique opportunity to champion co‑production at every level of the service, ensuring our work reflects the lived experiences, needs and priorities of local families and communities.

About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for building strong and trusting relationships with children, young people, parents, carers and community groups, creating opportunities for meaningful feedback and involvement. You will support the service to communicate clearly, creatively and consistently across newsletters, digital platforms and social media, ensuring key messages reach the right audiences. You will gather, monitor and analyse engagement insights, using this information to inform service planning and address gaps in provision. Working closely with colleagues, partners and the council’s wider communications and marketing teams, you will help design materials, prepare reports and contribute to strategies and quality improvement work. You will also support the development of staff digital skills and champion the effective use of new technologies to enhance communication with service users.

About You
You will be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. You will bring experience of community engagement, partnership working and supporting families, as well as a strong understanding of digital communication and social media. You will be confident working independently, able to manage your time effectively and capable of producing high‑quality written materials tailored to different audiences. You will be digitally confident, organised and creative, with a genuine passion for involving children, young people and families in shaping the services that support them. A Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline and a commitment to ongoing professional development are essential.
