The successful candidate will be required to be available outside of services normal working hours as part of a standby rota to respond to out of hours service needs. A standardised standby payment will be made in respect of these duties.

About the Post:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Arborist to complement the council’s Arboriculture Team in delivering an effective and efficient Arboricultural service offer for Neighbourhood Services.
Reporting to the Arboriculture Team Leader, you will carry-out a full range of arboricultural duties both on the ground and at height. You will be able to work to extremely high standards in both safety and quality, and will be instrumental in helping to deliver the 1st class Arboriculture service demanded by the council and its stakeholders.
You will be qualified in a range of arboricultural disciplines, including (but not limited to) use of chainsaws on the ground, dismantling of trees, felling of mature trees, working at height from a rope and harness an also able to perform aerial rescue in emergencies. Working at height in a MEWP will also be required.
You will have experience of working in all weather conditions and will be able to undertake strenuous duties, often under pressure to meet targets and deadlines while also remaining effective and efficient at all times. You will take direction from the Team Leader but will also be able to work on your own initiative when required. The role will include being part of an out of hours standby emergency cover for any tree related emergencies.
The ability to work and integrate with an established team is essential. You will be able to interpret plans, drawings and briefing notes and be able to communicate effectively with service users, including members of the public, council officers and ward members.
