The Governing Body of Athersley South Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, high quality individual to take over the role of Learning Mentor at our school. The role requires someone who has the ability to work closely and effectively with colleagues to provide a structured programme of support to children and their families who need help to overcome the barriers to learning, both inside and outside of school.

You will be part of a fantastic team who are proud of the success of the school. You must be committed to high standards in all areas and have high expectations of all children in terms of progress, attitudes and behaviour.

We are looking for an individual to join our team who:

·        significant and successful experience of working with vulnerable children, groups and families.

·        a knowledge of a range of strategies and approaches to support in a wide variety of situations and an ability to be highly flexible and versatile.

·        4 GCSE’s (grade A-C) or equivalent and, ideally, a minimum of 3 years working with children of primary school age.

·        a clear understanding of relevant legislation in relation to child welfare and protection.

·        effective behaviour management skills and high expectations.

·        excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to be a sympathetic and trusted adult role model.

·        the ability to work effectively within a team and to manage their time effectively.

·        a good sense of humour and positive outlook.
