About the Post:
Transformation Programme Manager – Barnsley Place Local Digital Roadmap
Improving the care and welfare of local people in Barnsley and working with partners in the region, we have brought together a place based digital roadmap which looks to help improve our services and intelligence across the Borough. We are now looking for a Transformation Programme Manager to bring the roadmap to life via a portfolio of projects, starting with our shared care record.
Creativity, ambition and a focus on people. That’s what matters to Barnsley Council and our partners working across the health and social care sector. We are on an exciting journey of change. It’s all about putting local people at the heart of everything, listening to and doing good for our communities. We’re all more innovative, more efficient and provide better value for money.
While the position is hosted by Barnsley MBC it is an integral part of a wider partnership Programme Management Office and will report to a multi-agency strategic IT group made up of appropriate leaders from across Barnsley including the Council, CCG, NHS Trust and SWYT. There will also be a requirement to report progress to the Integrated Partnership Group, and to work regionally with appropriate organisations and boards.
This is an exciting time to join Barnsley’s health and care providers in their continuing digital journey, providing a great opportunity to work with senior stakeholders and direct influential digital programmes and projects in a time of positive change across the place.
The position is initially Fixed Term for 2 years.
Shape a better future with us
We’re thrilled to have achieved Investors in People (IIP) Gold status for how we lead, support and develop people. Now we’d like you to be part of our success and help us and our partners take change further. Join us on our journey to a brighter future. By working together, with each other and with our communities, we can take pride in improving lives. Let’s make a better Barnsley for everyone.
Your role in our journey
As Transformation Programme Manager, you’ll be tasked with forming a programme of digital projects that contribute to the Barnsley Local Digital Roadmap. We will look to you to formulate, plan and oversee the management of a portfolio of projects within a formal framework, coordinate resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, and tackle risks and issues along the way. You’ll also provide advice and guidance and deliver presentations to senior leaders from Barnsley health and care providers. What’s more, working with the partners you’ll identify, evaluate and implement new processes, technology and systems to progress Barnsley along its digital roadmap.
While working in a local context you’ll need to have a strong awareness of regional and national initiatives that may need to be reflected in Barnsley’s strategic aspirations, and an ability to flex the programme where it’s appropriate.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need a Level 7 qualification or relevant experience, and relevant training in programme management. Crucially, you’ll have significant experience of managing programmes across organisations through to successful delivery. The scope of our ambition means it’s vital that you have worked on large and complex change projects within a large organisation and demonstrated the drive and ability to ensure continuous improvement of services. As a leader, you’ll bring to the role excellent communication, relationship building, facilitation and negotiation skills.
A lot to look forward to
Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do. As part of our team, you can be sure we’ll do all we can to support you in being truly excellent. You see, we prioritise learning and enabling you to achieve your potential. So we’ve created a development process that lets you grow in the way that suits you - whether that’s training to be a leader, or learning flexibly online. That’s one of the reasons why we achieved IIP Gold, and why you’ll find your career here inspiring and rewarding. The postholder will have access to development opportunities across the partner organisations.
